Christmas Blessings & Bird Portraits

Christmas for my family was very wonderful. In our new home in Vermont, we looked out to the trees and birds in the snowfall for a white Christmas; our first in 10+ years. Our family since the move has been extra thankful for all our blessings, allowing our dreams to come true, especially to my parents for helping us make it possible. Our new jobs are so much better than we ever thought possible and we are already making strong connections.

I have several bird feeders hanging on the corner of the deck, visible from my spot on the couch, binoculars and camera in their spot on the side table. As is typical, with snowfall, the birds really flock to the feeders. We had 12 species at the feeders the first few hours: White Breasted Nuthatch, Dark-Eyed Junco, Northern Cardinal, American Goldfinch, Tufted Titmouse, Black-Capped Chickadee, Common Redpoll, Hoary Redpoll, Downy Woodpecker, Red-Bellied Woodpecker, American Tree Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow. I just love photographing birds with the snowfalling. Hopefully you enjoy these shots. Happy & safe Holidays to all.

Terrific post Dan! I love photographing birds in falling snow too. There is snow falling now.

My favorite has to be the Junco, I adore those little “snow birds”.
